On the right side of the footer it says: "Welcome to our new website.". Where is this message located so that I may change it?

Also, just as a side question,… at the bottom of the page on this site is a marquee. Is that a plugin and if so, where can I get it?

Thanks.

The marquee thing is called the Flagrant Text. It is the same thing that is showing your "Welcome to our new Website." When you add more to it/change it/etc, it scrolls.

The flagrant text can be edited at Admin Zone > Set Up > Configuration > Site Options > General.

Like ocPortal? Want to thank Chris and gang somehow? Then help out in the chat room! It really needs your help! Just open it in a tab everytime you open your web browser, and when you hear a "ding", check it out!

The first question:
Admin >> Setup >> Site options >> 'General' section about half way through it …

Second question:
I've seen it referenced, I think in a tute or one of Allen's vids, but since I don't use it I can't be more specific. Sorry!

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Hmmmm, I edited the Default Flagrant Text but it does not scroll. It just wrapped right around the footer.
Did I miss something in there?

Just FYI,… I just posted my site so any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Ah yeah, sorry, I misspoke about it scrolling on it's own. I forgot that it actually takes a marquee tag to do that.

The flagrant message does accept html tags so use marquee tgs to set that up as you desire.

Visit the 'Extended Comcode' page on this site for a more detailed list of usable Comcode.

I think the ones you need to look at, about half way down the page, are the ticker and carousel tags that will probably get you what you want.

Disclaimer: I haven't used either!

Hah! I didn't even know of the ticker and carousel tags when I made use of the flagrant message. I did things the hard way with html tags, messing around with the marquee tags.

I haven't used the flagrant text in a while though… having removed it to make room for other things in the bottom bar. But from what I recall, it only accepted html tags in that spot.

But about the comcode, I'll have to keep that in mind lol. I make use of plenty other comcode tags, I should have know of those two lol.

I don't mind giving a few gift points, (even though as a new user I don't have many). I looked at the ticker and carousel tags but not having used comcode before, can you give me some sample code to show how to use those tags?

Thanks

Code

[ticker param="400"]I'm a ticker. No points necessary for sample showing.[/ticker]

Code

[carousel param="400"]I'm a carousel which is slightly different than a ticker when I do a preview. It's kind of ugly really. You'll notice as I post this... lol. Again, no points asked when showing samples.[/carousel]

Well-settled

Eric,
Nice and dandy but where and what does one edit/put this in?
I was able to find that code and but used the HTML Marquee in the footer file instead but again I do not know where to put that code in?
Please tell.
Thanks

Thanks Eric, however,…..

It works if I use it in a post but if I use it in the Flagrant text area it just wraps around.

Maybe the Flagrant text area will only accept html?

I don't use comcode in template files myself and never have tried to test it before.

I know it can be done because the ticker is used in the bottom forums news block template.

Maybe Chris or someone else (Fletch? lol) can share some enlightenment for you.

What we have isn't the ticker, it's a block placed into the template that also has the scroll effect. If you like that particular Comcode you can put {$COMCODE,...} into the FOOTER template somewhere and take out what you don't want.

It is ABSOLUTELY NOT NECESSARY to feel that you need to gift any points. Honest! That was a 'little' joke between mythus and me.

It looks like Eric and Chris have stepped in with examples of the code you asked for. Run with it, and if you come unstuck we will ALL take another look at it.

Thanks for the points. I'll look after them and  'return' them again soon …

The world economy may have collapsed, but at least the ocPortal.com points economy is buoyant ;).
