Moving forward with Composr

Hi, I really looked around in the control panel for an hour or so but I still can't find where to change "send an validation email to new members" thingy.
Please, anyone tell me where to change this.

In case any developer is reading this, I'd say that this is the best portal that I've ever used.

Hi,

This isn't a feature I'm afraid. Mostly we've had this requested when server e-mail has not been functioning, but we do consider e-mail a requirement so would prefer to think about fixing this than removing emails. If you have other reasons, please let us know.

Thanks for your comment.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

  I'd like it configable. Anyway, reason why I am not using this is becouse I do not have a email server plus  I want it as easy as possible to registrate on my website. If there is anything worser than checking your email for the activation link which do not neccessarly have to come within 10 minutes, then well I dont know what it is. None should be forced to give away any email.

Great CMS tho :p

Fair arguments.

I'll quickly explain how to modify ocPortal for this behaviour.

In pages/modules/join.php

Line 239 from:

Code

$validated_email_confirm_code=strval(rand(1,32000));
to:

Code

$validated_email_confirm_code='';
(disables presence of confirmation code)

Line 254 (has mail_wrap on it)… put '//' at the front of that line to comment it out and stop the mail going out.

Then edit the 'OCF_WAITING_CONFIRM_MAIL_INSTANT' lang string in the 'ocf' lang file not to mention a confirmation email.
