Good question. This is no longer in a global option because you can now add HTML banner code into the banner system directly, just add a new banner using 'Direct code'. This is nice because you can now have multiple different ad networks rotating together and control multiple adsense spots.

  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

A few questions…

Have you checked the HTML sent to your browser to see if it was in there?

If you are testing as admin, did you enable the option that says admins see banners?

Do you see any banners at all, or just a space?

What exact settings did you use? (a screenshot would help)

Where have you placed the ads on your site? I can see google analytics code on your home page but not adsense.

Do you have a Samsung Galaxy S / Galaxy S II ? If so, why not check out my ScreenFree FM Radio .

In Google AdSense, click on the "My ads" tab and then click on the "Get code" link to see the code for the specific ad you want to include on your site.

That code is what you use as the 'Direct code' Chris was referring to. I'm not using v9, so I don't know if you also need to surround the code in a [semihtml][/semihtml] tag when using the 'Direct code' method with banners.

If you want to place the ads in any other template though, you will definately need to use [semihtml][/semihtml].

I don't use banners to display my ads, but according to ocPortal Tutorial: Tempcode programming - ocPortal , you add banners by including {$BANNER} .

The [semihtml] tag should only be necessary if adding raw ads and should not be needed if using {$BANNER} .

From the release notes:
HEADER.tpl, FOOTER.tpl, and GLOBAL.tpl have been removed and replaced with a simpler GLOBAL_HTML_WRAP.tpl
