Hi,
We have recently had CometChat integrated into our OCP site. At the same time I uninstalled the OCP chat app.

Following this a number of users are reporting Flood Control Errors - I was just wondering what triggers OCP to issue the warning ?

I am getting users to clear their browser caches and that is seeming to clear them up.

Cheers
Ade

I haven't checked your site re this, but OTTOMH 404's can cause problems, if ocPortal is configured in .htaccess to use its own 404 page. Maybe Comet Chat is triggering multiple?

Hi Chris,

It has the default .htaccess from OCPortal, the re-directed 404 page is not defined at all.

The .htaccess in comeetchat does not have a redirect in it.

How might cometchat be triggering multiple - in fact I am not even sure what you mean by multiple ?

Cheers
Ade

Also the guys that report it say that OCP logs them out.

People who are seeing the flood control are telling me that it happens from the quick reply window but is fine from the full editor.

Looks like its getting stuck in a perpetual loop. Something is triggering an 404, so its trying to show you a custom 404 message, which can't be found, which triggers a 404 for the missing 404 page, and around and around we go O_o .

Temporarily comment out the redirect. That should stop the floods and it should also tell you what the underlying missing file is next time its triggered.

Do you have a Samsung Galaxy S / Galaxy S II ? If so, why not check out my ScreenFree FM Radio .

Commented it out and I have only had one report of a triggered flood control. However they just said it was the same error as before with no additional data.

Is there a way to see the flood cobtrol information ? I cannot find it

Flood control is configured as group settings. Otherwise, it is dynamic - ocPortal logs request times in member profiles (last visit timestamp, last submit timestamp) and checks against those values. It's not like banning, it's just like a run-time test.
