Ok I think I may have my importer just about done. Solved most errors so far. The reason users were getting imported is because the section on user import was trying to add a new member to ocp with the nuke Registration date as a non valid data type. Ocp uses timestamp where nuke used a string date so I converted it and all is well there but I have one question to solve.

I have added about 4 or 5 import functions (example: config_users, config_nuke etc) and when the importer screen shows up the checkbox portion of those new functions are blank (no title) so I tried adding a importer type hook file under said folder but what lang file is it best to add these Definitions? I can add it to something like banners.ini cause I know it gets read there when I do but what is the appropriate place I should do it so it is included?

lang_custom/EN/import.ini would be a good choice (new file). Or actually even try lang_custom/EN/ravennuke.ini because I think the importer may be loading all lang files up.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

I actually chose to try the latter before you posted. Just testing now and will let you know how it goes.

So I added an import type of config_user and in that setup the lang array for the others which I added to import_ravennuke.ini in the lang/EN/ folder
