Not sure if I'm doing something wrong here, however, the behaviour with regards to adding a link "As Virtual Root" works differently between CEDI and Catalogues. I am running two distinct zones with shared CEDI and Catalogues but individual themes. The calling of the link for CEDI (after having added a redirect between the zones) works just great; the Root or Tree is never shown to my second zone which is what I want (breadcrumbs). Repeating the exact same thing with catalogues however always has the link back to the root of the catalogues no matter what link I use a virtual root. I do not want one zone calling/seeing the catalogue root from the other. Is this possible or am I doing something wrong?

The system was designed to work as it does, but what you just described does actually make great sense. It's an elegant way to solve the problem that some people want the catalogue list to be in the breadcrumbs whilst others do not; it gives people the ability to open up a virtual root as they desire. So I'm going to implement it.

Attached is a new site/pages/modules/catalogues.php that does what you wish and also this change will be in the next patch release:

Thanx very kindly Chris, much appreciated!

Just as a side note for yourself and anyone else reading: I had to take some extended time away from this, that and other thing, however, I'm back at spending some time with OCP. This time around, I've gone further and deeper with the package than I have previously, and man, I thought I was impressed before, but the power of OCP is nothing short of brilliant. So anyone reading who is just starting out, keep at it…you will be amazed and satisfied with pretty much 100% of the package!

Hey Chris! I installed the patched file and we're almost there. Here's what I'm seeing:

  1. Click on menu link that contains the link URL as defined by "Go to as Virtual Root": Landed where I should, no breadcrumb, so indicates correct link
  2. Clicked on first "child" catalogue link - Breadcrumb appears, including link back to catalogue root: Catalogues –> Root
  3. Clicked on second child link (3 nested categories in this example, including the Catalogues cat itself): Catalogues –> Root –> Articles
  4. Clicked on third child link (which is the final link): Voila! Root –> Articles –> Article Title

So thing are perfect at the beginning and final destination, however, the intermediate links are still showing the Catalogues in the breadcrumb trail.

Please let me know if there is something further I need to do (I have cleared caches in browsers and did the ctl-alt-tab refresh thingy).

TIA!
SD

Thanks for the enthusiasm :).

Please try the two changed PHP files in the attached zip. They correct some bugs in the catalogue breadcrumb code.

You're very welcome Chris, however, you and your team have earned it!

Updated my site with the files and whoohoo! you've nailed it (as usual). Thanx again!

Be well, SD
