We got a support ticket from someone who didn't leave contact details, so I'm answering here in case they find it:
Where are the instructions on vB integration? What do we need to do to set it up? Points aren't being counted despite the settings being 40 on register and 5 per post.

It sounds like you've got it set up. All you really need to do is choose vBulletin when you install and provide the database details. If there was any mistake during this the install wouldn't have finished.

The points are calculated dynamically. The 40 upon joining is fed directly into an equation each time the point total is looked up, so there's no potential for it to now be stored. I am guessing you're somehow looking in the wrong place; possibly vBulletin has it's own points system I'm not aware of, that you're looking at instead?
Ways to view points count - looking in the login block after logging in, or at your points profile from the points module.

I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

Thanks for the response (and the email). :)

What triggers the update? Perhaps we're just not hitting that page before checking the count?

I was looking in the vB admin panel where it has the "Points Gained" field in the user profile custom fields.

Hi :),

I was trying to explain that there isn't actually an update to trigger. The '40' is added dynamically each time the point count is viewed.

I understand what you're thinking now though :). The profile field you're viewing is for storage, but it's not intended to be viewed directly. I believe it's created as a hidden field. The field stores a part of the point count, but this is combined with a number of other sources to create the true point count.

Oh. Of course, I understand what you're saying now. It does have 45 points once I go to the site. Silly me. Thanks a million for your help. :)
