[v5 RC1 upgrade] 503 Service Unavailable

The upgrade went smoothly, and in no time flat I had ocPortal v5 up and running at full speed with its superb new graphical environment. I just had a few minor theme css issues to fix. However, after setting the htaccess from the recommended.htaccess, every preview and save returned the following error message:
503 Service Unavailable
I normally regained page access after a browser refresh. Reverting to the previous htaccess seemed to have solved the 503 errors for everything except for editing css and templates which results in no 503 message but a blank page with the word "done" at the bottom left. Refreshing the page will not do it this time, and I must change the address manually.

I've Installed an additional copy of a clean ocPortal 4.3.2 followed by an upgrade to 5.0 rc1 to further test this issue and found the same problem after setting htaccess.

All cache and cookies were purged and erased with every test.
This reminds me of the suhosin/Elief errors encountered a few months ago.

Hi,

It might be all the lines starting "php_". Servers with a CGI PHP install won't accept them. We have plain.htaccess for this circumstances.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thank you Chris, but it does not seem to make any difference as far as editing css and templates. When you press the "edit" button, you are left in limbo with a blank page. However, it seems that the changes are being saved properly - Correction - This not the case, saving does not take place . I've noticed that there are no Suhosin arguments in the plain.htacces and as I recall, that may have been part of a similar problem with the previous htaccess some months ago.

Regards,
Jean

Chris, Just to let you know that I've experimented with the plain.htaccess by adding the Suhosin argument block to it (deleting cookies again), and it seems to have fixed my problem; css and templates are now saving normally.
