This is probably an easy answer, but….

There's a site I set up that runs one news category and the rest is set up for member blogs.

When a members goes to their respective Content Management > News > Add News, they see:

News (#1)
member name (new)'s blog

Is there a way to set the permissions so they only see their blog option? Would hate to have the Admin have to manually change this every time they need to validate a blog entry.

Well-settled

Isn't there a 'Submit to other people's categories' specfic permission?

There is. But looking at the default permissions, only "Super-moderator" is selected. All other groups are unticked.

Members can still select "News (#1)" and when they submit, they can get the post must be validated and an email has been sent to site staff message.

It would just be nice to hide that so all when the post is validated, the admin only needs to read the post itself and not make sure the member selected the correct category too. It's just an extra step is all.  :|

Hi,

Direct them to the cms_blogs module instead – this is why we made that :).

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
