I cannot remember for the life of me where to go so that when someone posts in a subforum, you can also see the latest topic in the "Last Post" section of the main forums page.

I've looked and looked… I know it's there somewhere. :$

Any help?

Hi,

It should be automatic. The only case where it does not do it is if the forum is not wholly public, in which case it says if there's an access error to see the last topic title.
Do we have a bug?

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Well, you were right with Permissions. Somehow my "Newbies & Neighbors" view access had been cleared out for all usergroups. So I changed it so all had viewing access and "Read Only" as well so they couldn't post (I only want them to be able to post in subforums).

I checked the subforums permissions and all were okay.

Now I went back to the forum index (logged in as admin) and it still isn't showing. If you notice in my attachment, there is 1 topic and 9 posts. But the last post info isn't showing up where it's suppose to.

Is the topic involved validated?

I ended up moving things around where the topic being posted to was not a subforum anymore…. I did a test in another subforum and it seems to work okay. So it must have been a validation issue, I don't know.  :|

Ah right. The data is cached, so probably after moving a forum you'd need to use the cleanup tools (there's an app a tool for that).
