Chris

I am not sure if this problem is related to the permission tree editor but this problem just started as I was adding new downloads using the url link.  Now when I try and use the cleanup under tools is runs then stops executing when I select broken link check box.  I do not think its a problem with the individual computer that I am using to access the site with because I tried using several different macines with the current version of IE, Netscape, and opera.  I do not think the router is causing the problem because I reset it back to the default settings and did a completed setup on the router.

Its has to be either a problem within Ocportal and using Windows Server 2003 and IIS or Windows Server 2003 and IIS,  I doubled checked all the Mysql, IIS6 and windows settings and everything seems to be ok.

Thanks
Phil

There are dozens of different factors that could effect how ocPortal runs, and operating system is only one of these. Unfortunately we are unlikely to be able to reproduce this directly given that I actually develop and test ocPortal on Windows Server 2003 and IIS. Please explain exactly how ocPortal stops:
  • Does it result a blank screen? Does the browser give some kind of error popup before the results page is generated? Does it seem to go on loading forever? …
Also, is PHP set up on your server as CGI or ISAPI?

Become a fan of ocPortal on Facebook or add me as a friend. Add me on on Twitter.
Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

In IIS configuration under ISAPI filter I have php and phpisapi.dll.  And under home directory configuration its .php and phpisapi.dll.

Now I am also having a problem in the permission tree editor and its will show the entire directories for the download.  Is there any thing you can recommend or do to help me solve this problem please?

Thanks
Phil

I'm afraid I cannot help further if my previous questions (in post #30184) are left unanswered.

For future reference, please be aware that problem reports should almost always include a number of full paragraphs of carefully written text, detailing the situation from multiple angles. Screenshots should almost always be provided to provide a visual accompaniment so the problem can be seen without ambiguity. To give some examples of the kinds of information you could include:
  • whether you have successfully performed what you are not able to perform now, before
  • when the problem started happening
  • the ocPortal version you are using
  • what you mean by a 'directory' is in this context (directory isn't ocPortal terminology, unless you're referring to an on-disk directory)
  • what 'the download' is (is it an ocPortal Download, the process of a web browser performing a download, or something else?)
  • screenshots that illustrate the problem as it is occuring

I don't mean to be rude, but it is very frustrating having to chase answers to questions, and try and work out complex situations from very short posts. Please take into account that effectively free support is given for fixing problems so that ocProducts can improve the quality of ocPortal for everyone – but when we have to work to get comprehensive bug reports, the time investment can no longer be justified.

Please make it as easy for us as possible to help you solve your problem(s), and we'll work hard to get them solved – but sketchy details and ignored questions are likely to result in ignored problems.

I realise that you are under no obligation to provide full details and you are probably just quickly giving a bug report because you are busy. But my intent in the above post is to try and reverse an ongoing problem I have when trying to help you fix your problems (of which you seem to have more than a few – some of which are undoubtedly real bugs). I don't feel we're making much progress with fixing the problems, but my attempts to get to the bottom of things by getting full reports, are fruitless. In addition, I'm noting you've deleted a lot of your own posts from a lot of topics before we've been informed of whether the issues were resolved or not – again, this leaves me frustrated because from my point of view, we have a possibility to get some real problems of yours fixed, but the opportunity just isn't being realised.

The offer for us to look over your site remains open. If you would like to make a list of problems, and give us temporary FTP access, we could work to fix these without requiring such detailed bug reports.
