How do I use an ' in a menu title.  When I do it displays as:

Code

Tracy's Crafts
I've tried HTML replacements and even prefacing it with a \ and it doesn't work.  Seems like I read it somewhere in the docs or even the forum, but have searched and can't find the anser.

I'm not sure that you can use single quotes and the most of special characters if your site has default ISO character encoding.

This is the reason why I use utf-8 only. It supports not only special characters but also foreign letters (e.g. Greek, Cyrillic…)

In this case your database needs to be with utf-8 collation, too.

It should work fine. I just tested it on here, I used the Add Block button to add a side_stored_menu block and I'd put in a single quote as the title. Admittedly this was me trying on v8, but I can't think what we'd have changed to break it.

You didn't mention how/where you were creating/editing a menu? Perhaps there's something about the method you're using that I'm not realising.

Well I thought it should as well.  However, when I use:

Code

[block="zone_tracy_menu" title="Tracy's Crafts"]side_stored_menu[/block]
it is showing on my site, or at least to my screen reader as:

Code

Tracy's Crafts

Is it hand typed? Is the WYSIWYG on when you do this?

Sorry Chris, should've included more info to begin with.  Broke a rib the other day and typing isn't on the top of the list of comfortable things to do.

I'm runninng V9.06 on my site Chip And Tracy's Place and the menu in question is Tracy's Crafts in the tracy zone.  After creating the zone, I was delivered to the zone start page and so my wife wouldn't have to create the menu I went ahead and created it for her.  Then I used the zone editor to edit the menu text in the left panel by hand.  I've also deleted the text in the left panel and recreated the menu block entry using the dynamic block assistant.  I never use the WYSIWYG editor because it is much easier to use the regular editor with my screen reader.  However, I don't have WYSIWYG disabled in the configuration/acessibility options opting to leave it since the rest of the family is sighted and much rather use WYSIWYG.  If you visit the site you'll notice I have no issues with the ' in the top zone menu or any other menu entries as far as that goes.  Just in the comcode tag for her zone.  I don't recall having any problems with the ' in any other comcode blocks either, but haven't look around the site to check for them either.

This issue has cropped up once again, but not in the side_menu block.  It is now occurring in the title param in the main_news block.

Again I'm not using the WYSIWYG editor and happens whether I use the Dynamic Block Assistant or type it by hand.

Version is 9.0.7

What is actually in the comcode:

Code

[block="0" filter="16" multiplier="0.5" fallback_full="3" fallback_archive="3" blogs="1" zone="_SEARCH" title="Tracy's Blog"]main_news[/block]

What is being shown:

Code

Tracy's Blog

Ah. This is only happening when there are no news entries to show, it's a problem with that specific template. When there are news entries, it's working. We will fix in the next patch release.
