Just after updating to 8.1.1, I had a user email me about not being able to make an account.
I tested it myself and, sure enough, I come up with the following error:

I just tested this out also and was able to create an account.
The only problem I received was this message, "Either you ("Guest") have lost access between the time of the link you clicked appearing and now, you have found a bug, or you are jumping into URLs." when hitting the "proceed" button on the registration form.

Edit: Found the stacktrace error, will put in a new message.

I don't use the openID or Facebook addons.
I can try again. All I know is, I filled out the registration form, and clicked 'proceed' and it took me to the home page again with that error message.
I did the same as you except when I clicked "proceed" I was dumped back into the login screen with this message "Either you ("Guest") have lost access between the time of the link you clicked appearing and now, you have found a bug, or you are jumping into URLs", but the account was created.
