I have just installed oc portal on my website here:

there seems to be an issue that i have no entry field for new members username, when filling out the rest of the form and trying to move forward a step, the error is thrown up that not all required fields are filled in.

any suggestions and help would be greatly received :)

Gav.

Confirm findings of Ken & Gav.

There is a line of code somewhere that says input_type="hidden" and I can't find anything obvious in JOIN_OR_LOGIN.tpl or pages/join.php!

bummer

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

I know of no other CMS that has the support from the developers that ocPortal enjoys.

However, today is SUNDAY, and even the indefatigable Chris needs to take some time off … sometimes!

v8 fix: 0000920: Joining broken - missing username field - ocPortal feature tracker

v9 fix: 0000921: Joining broken - missing username field - ocPortal feature tracker

Major bug :(. We'll make a re-release in a few days when we're sure there haven't been any other new issues.

Become a fan of ocPortal on Facebook or add me as a friend. Add me on on Twitter.
Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

It's not as simple as that, each field element is a template, wrapped in a field template, and assembled in order by PHP code and all wrapped in another template.

Hi,

Sorry that's not a directly supported features and there's no documentation on how to do it at the moment. It could be achieved but it'd require a very thorough understanding of ocPortal templating (Tempcode in particular).
It's the kind of thing we could address via support, but I wouldn't have the time to go over on the forum.
