I am using 4.0.5. Yesterday, the values for number of attachments and file upload quota reset to 5. Also, some of the permissions changed. There is only one other person who has access to make these changes, and the action logs do not indicate he did this.

I did install ffmpeg, mplayer and some other related files on my server yesterday. I changed the php.ini file and the php-configuration, but I copied the changes to the php.ini file to the php.ini in the cms and adminzone folders. I doubt this could have caused the problems, but I am curious.

Also, several members had their passords changed automatically. O_o

It only took a few minutes to reset things, but I was wondering if anyone else had encountered a similar "happening"? Not that I am paranoid or anything, but maybe my server is haunted.

That's odd, never heard anything like that happening before. All I can think is if somehow the database changed to an old copy. I don't know if you have multiple mysql installs or old mysql data directories around and somehow it jumped?

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Hi Chris,

I only have the one DB for this site. There are other sites on my server that have multiple mysql DBs, but that should not cause a problem.

I pretty sure I caused this when I installed the video files. I was just curious as to how I managed to accomplish this.

It is definitely odd.  :)
