Hi,

I have had one or two complaints about how members have to take out a recurring PayPal subscriptions when joining a Usergroup. The main complaint is that if they cancel the PayPal recurring subscription it also causes OCP to remove them from the usergroup rather than allow them to have the period that they have paid for.

Would it be possible for OCP to be tweaked to keep a list of subscriptions that have been cancelled via PayPal and only do the removal from the OCP usergroup when its actual duration (or repeat interval) has passed - is there enough information in the PayPal notification to achieve this ?

Cheers
Ade

Okay, so I've done some research. This is now possible, it was not easily possible for a time without doing some heavy calculation (or possibly manual extra Paypal querying).

In sources/hooks/systems/ecommerce_via/paypal.php, change subscr_cancel to subscr_eot.

We'll make this change official.

I have not tested, but everything says this should work.

Hi Chris,

Ok I have implemented this and as expected cancelling the recurring PayPal subscription no longer removes that person from the subscribed User Group.

So what is the expected behaviour when, in this case, the 12 month subscription expires ?
As far as I can see PayPal has done its bit and notified us of the cancelled recurring payment. But I do not see how in 12 months time OCPortal will remove the subscriber from the user group ?

Can you shed some light on this please ?

Cheers
Ade

PayPal'll send an eot IPN which we'll now recognise.

That is nice of them - I think I will create a new subscription for 1 day and test this out to be sure !! Otherwise it will be difficult to track those that have cancelled their recurring payments.
Are there any plans to give the subscriber a choice not to create the recurring subscription ?
