Hi there :)   Help please.

Install is gone fine and I am now about to make changes to OC and try it out before for sure buy this great program made.

I have this problem, in admin - setup - configuration - site options, when i make a change in there, example, unmark site to could be shown and fix name in copyright  so on, then when hit the Process button, it not save any changing made ?  Seems it save it, as no error shown, but it does not though, save anything.

All other things seems to work and also the save functions, except this one?

Have a nice day

We've had this problem before, and it was caused by a web-server module called 'mod_security'. Basically this is a module that looks for 'suspicious' web requests and filters them. When you edit the site options, it sees HTML being submitted, and thinks you're trying to hack the website.

This module breaks web standards, and isn't necessary because ocPortal doesn't have any known security holes, and also has it's own similar (but refined) filter.

We have some code in the recommended.htaccess file to turn this filter off for your website. Please try renaming that file to .htaccess. If this doesn't work, try the file with just leaving these 5 lines at the top:

# Disable inaccurate security scanning (ocPortal has it's own)
<IfModule mod_security.c>
SecFilterEngine Off
SecFilterScanPOST Off

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
