Hi, I do the upgrader.php on my site. Add the url of the update, it runs through the whole upgrading process, but the upgrade does not take place.

In my root directory I see a 30meg file, data.op. I tried renaming it to a tar, but do not work. My cPanel only allows 25 megs uploads.

Please help, thanks.

Make sure you also do a database backup first before you upgrade.... especially upgrading to an RC version and your site is live.

Greetings,

I got the same error. I was able to work around it by doing the following…

1.) Instead of using the upgrade.php from 4.3, I went ahead and downladed the 4.3-5 upgrade file straight onto my computer.

2.) I then uploaded that to my site and extracted it within the the site, it replaced the files.

3.) I then ran the upgrade.php file and it gave me the new upgrade.php screen for 5 series. I ran through the checks and what not and now have a working 5.0 RC1.

Hi,

Sorry for the delayed reply. It was a pretty busy week last week but now my head is clear I can see the cause. As Soccerdad also noticed, we accidentally had our quick installer up in place of our manual installer for a while – the upgrade generator must have used the quick installer to build the upgrade, hence the problem.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
