javascript validation errors

After a smooth upgrade to my test site from 5.0.3 to 5.1 beta1, I did a file integrity test and this file was indicated as missing:

These files are actually missing and need uploading (you can find them in the manual installer ZIP for the version you're running): * data/ckeditor/CHANGES.html
Is it looking for LICENSE.html since CHANGES.html is not in the ZIP file either?

The following message pops up nearly everywhere, even after re-caching a few times.
The new form is shown below it and after clicking OK, it reverts to the old form (previous version).

I MUST have had something similar and chose to ignore it, but if you take a look at my vid post I think we're talking about the same thing … !!

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

I had a similar thing happen to me with 5.1 beta.
but in my case it's because I edited some global files
the files that handle the videos in the gallery.

I understand the I need to edit files within the theme template that I need the changes.
I rather have a an option to ignore the new version of certain files, just encase an new theme needs to be added so that all the changes are applied to that new theme.

I understand that our issues are different I just thought I would comment on this here because this seems to be similar in nature.

Jean, I think maybe you've overridden FORM_SCREEN.tpl. I'll make the Javascript less sensitive for the next beta, but a fix now is to make sure:

Code

id="main_form"
is in your version like it is in the new version.

Code

{+START,IF_NON_PASSED,IFRAME_URL}
<form id="main_form" {+START,IF_NON_PASSED,GET}method="post" action="{URL*}"{+START,IF,{$IN_STR,{FIELDS},"file"}} enctype="multipart/form-data"{+END}{+END}{+START,IF_PASSED,GET}method="get" action="{$URL_FOR_GET_FORM*,{URL}}"{+END} target="_top" {+START,IF_PASSED,AUTOCOMPLETE}{+START,IF,{AUTOCOMPLETE}}class="autocomplete" {+END}{+END}>
   {+START,IF_PASSED,GET}{$HIDDENS_FOR_GET_FORM,{URL}}{+END}
{+END}
{+START,IF_PASSED,IFRAME_URL}
<form id="main_form" {+START,IF_NON_PASSED,GET}method="post" action="{IFRAME_URL*}"{+START,IF,{$IN_STR,{FIELDS},"file"}} enctype="multipart/form-data"{+END}{+END}{+START,IF_PASSED,GET}method="get" action="{$URL_FOR_GET_FORM*,{IFRAME_URL}}"{+END} target="iframe_under" {+START,IF_PASSED,AUTOCOMPLETE}{+START,IF,{AUTOCOMPLETE}}class="autocomplete" {+END}{+END}>
   {+START,IF_PASSED,GET}{$HIDDENS_FOR_GET_FORM,{IFRAME_URL}}{+END}
{+END}

Thanks for the clue, Violative!
In fact I did change something in GALLERY_FLOW_MODE_SCREEN.tpl and that could have been the source of my problem, but it was just to add a custom image on top of the form.

Thanks:)

Thanks Chris,

FORM_SCREEN.tpl is identical to your code and was not changed in any of the 7 themes on that test website. Most themes were created for color schemes tests.

I believe that the original website was incrementally updated From 5.0.1 to 5.1beta1 as the upgrades became available. I've also tested a few things by manually processing some patches as they showed up on the forums, and my guess is that one of those might have caused the instability.

To further test this, I've installed a clean 5.0.3 site and upgraded it to 5.1beta1 and it does not have any problem with the javascript validation. There are no error messages of any kind poping.

However, for your info, during the database upgrade process, I've received the following notification which is probably because the theme files did not received any activity workout to update the DB.

Code

Upgraded core tables.
Database query failed: INSERT INTO ocpo_theme_images (id, theme, path, lang) VALUES ('favicon', 'default', 'favicon.ico', 'EN') [Duplicate entry 'favicon-default-EN' for key 1]<br /> Database query failed: INSERT INTO ocpo_theme_images (id, theme, path, lang) VALUES ('appleicon', 'default', 'appleicon.png', 'EN') [Duplicate entry 'appleicon-default-EN' for key 1]<br />

Upgraded/installed:

* Upgraded module admin_themes
* Upgraded module search
While working with the new WYSIWYG with the bad test site, I've noticed some of the problems reported in Fletch's Vid.

I've re-tested this with the new working upgrade and a freezing editor problems still exist and seems to follow this pattern:

Using WYSIWYG editor as intended seems to work fine on all counts, but disabling it by choosing to convert to COMCODE, occasionally freezes the editor completely. Escaping and doing it a second time sometimes work, but it is best to leave the editor and reedit the post again.

I'll do more tests this weekend when I'll have more time and try to see if I'm missing anything that might provoke this reaction.;)

Just by looking at some images names does this have to do with the Oxygen images here? I could see this happening because of the Duplicate entry error.
Sorry ChrisW it's just my guess nothing is meant by it. Thanks for the images.

No, this was a clean install; nothing added, nothing removed!

Hi Jean,

I think it may have been JAVASCRIPT_VALIDATION.tpl that was the issue then.

Regarding editor freezing, it sounds like a connection problem. Does it freeze forever or work eventually or give an error eventually?

Hi Chris,

I've had a chance to test this issue more thoroughly this weekend, and can confirm that the WYSIWYG editor functions perfectly and is indeed a wonderful upgrade.

However, the following problem appears only when editing a post while disabling the WYSIWYG using either the CONVERT or DISCARD options:

The editor appears frozen and text cannot be edited, or inserted.

However, new elements can be inserted…boxes, lists and so on, while no text can be inserted still to complete let's say a quote element. (see attached image). Escaping and reentering the edit will unlock everything and work normally. Once saved, it can be reedited multiple times until WYSIWYG has been re-enabled and and disabled again, producing the same freeze on characters all over again.

I don't know if you can replicate this model or if other users can offer their experience with this.

Hoping that this will help to clarify my previous assertion.

I concur ALL of that.

I was about to report this as a a problem, apparently only affecting myself as others appeared not to have any problem with the new editor, but you've beaten me to it.

Thanks.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!
