I don't know if I'm supposed to be messing with this yet but I got the commit  from a couple weeks ago and saw that there have been a ton of fixes since then.  How would I go about using the new one without starting fresh?  Can I just download the .tar.gz and then go through the upgrade tab in the adminzone?
Do I need to uncompress the gzip?
Should I just wait?
My forum doesn't work, I'm using Aurora.

It's probably worth setting up git properly given you're a programmer :).

It's fine just to extract the files or do a git update if you haven't uninstalled addons. It is usually okay even if you've uninstalled addons, but some errors can happen.

There have been a couple of database changes in the last week that could prop up. One relating to a new notifications table, one relating to CPFs.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
