I think you are confusing the actual update with notifications that appear as comments in that thread.

I think you should concentrate on taking the update from View topic: ocPortal 8.0.1 released - ocPortal.com and follow the instructions on the next page, and forget about the other notifications.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Sorry, i meant to say that these 3 links are displayed in the updates box in the admin zone. it says that i am not running the most up to date version and then lists those versions each with its own 'Launch Upgrader' button.

Didnt explain very well sorry, its late lol

I've never received a similar series of notifications, but all I can recommend is to click the 'Launch' button (it will open a new windows), and follow the instructions.

When the update has completed you can close that window, but I suggest you leave it open (active) for the moment and go back to your Admin page and reload.

If all has gone well the notification box should say you are running the latest version and the other stuff ought to have disappeared.

If things go awry, you still have the 'upgrader' page open which will allow you to make adjustments, and in the event of a catastrophic screw-up you can access 'safe mode' from that page too!

Don't expect the worst, but make sure you are prepared for it. The advice to take a backup is a very good piece of advice!

Go for it.

I think our automated upgrader advice is not being smart enough to see these 3 paths are the same version. They're equivalent. I'll take a look at the advice generator myself soon to fix for the future.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thanks for the advice guys. The only reason i was concerned was because each of the 3 versions displayed varied between "major upgrade" and "minor upgrade" and didnt want to do a major before a minor…or visa versa.

Anywa, i think Chris must have fixed this because when i opened the site yesterday i had one upgrade button again :)

Thanks Chris, and everyone else!
