For some reason after upgrading from version 2.6.2 to 3.0.0 RC1 all posts made by non staff members on my forums require validation. I cant find where to go to fix this issue. Anyone around to awnser my silly question?

ocPortal 3 brought the forum permissions and the standard ocPortal-wide permissions together in a single new direction. This meant that forum permissions will not be exactly preserved on upgrade.
You need to look at your submission specific-permissions, in particular the one about bypassing validation for low range content.
If you don't want all low range content validation to be bypassed, you can use the permission tree editor to override it for the forums, or for any group of forums of your choice.

As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

So forum posts is low-range content?

whats mid-range and high-range?

edit: em. according to the settings they should be able to post without requiring validation…

the forum uses 'defaults' and the submission says they can bypass validation for low & mid range content…

I've followed this up, and whilst there was a little confusion, it is working. The trick is understanding the specific permissions, and how low/mid/high work, and how the override system of the permission tree editor works.

Documentation will be on our new website.
