Transparent Redirects are bugged?

I experienced some bugs working with the redirection feature:

1. Welcome:download > Site:downloads = works
2. Welcome:download > Site:downloads; Transparent = doesn't work (the redirect itself works, but every link within this page will result in a missing page error)
3. Welcome:downloads> Site:downloads; Transparent = works
4. Welcome:downloads> Site:downloads/miscs/downloadcategory = works
5. Welcome:downloads> Site:downloads/miscs/downloadcategory; Transparent = doesn't work
6. Welcome:downloads/miscs/downloadcategory> Site:downloads/miscs/downloadcategory; Transparent = doesn't work

Is there currently any solution for variation 5 (Welcome:downloads> Site:downloads/miscs/downloadcategory; Transparent) or a chance that this will be fixed soon?

You're making an incorrect assumption. You're putting in paths to the page field, but it only accepts ocPortal page names ("page" is a specific term in ocPortal, different from a URL). The feature is not like normal web server redirects that work on a URL level, it is specifically for redirection of whole ocPortal pages.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
