*sighs*

I've finally built-up enough courage to move to a new server due to a few problems I've had in the past with my previous webhost. Now that I've done so, my transfer isn't going as well as planned. I've kind of ran over a pothole in the road and can't seem to fix the damages. :P Unfortunately, one of the problems is with phpMyAdmin. For some reason, and I honestly have no clue why (I'm not very experienced with phpMyAdmin), phpMyAdmin doesn't export tables/rows correctly; causing errors when importing onto the new server. For example, if there's an IP address in the SQL code, you'll notice phpMyAdmin doesn't wrap them in apostrophes. There were a few other errors while importing to the new server, however I don't remember the exact error message. I know a few of the errors said something about checking the manual that corresponds to my MySQL version for the correct SQL syntax to use near <sql_code>.

The versions between the MySQL on the two different servers aren't much different. I think I exported from MySQL v5.0.24 and I'm trying to import onto a server with MySQL v5.0.27 installed. Is that a big difference? Maybe these errors are caused by some incompatibility issues between the two MySQL versions? Is there some kind of way I can configure phpMyAdmin to export in a way the new servers MySQL will accept? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I successfully transferred all of my files to the new server. I figured if I transferred any edited ocPortal files, then did a clean install, my site would be at least usable, but I sometimes get Internal Server errors when browsing the site.

I managed to transfer the Database successfully. Apparently phpMyAdmin is highly un-recommended for exporting Databases. Anyhow, I'm only getting one error…for now at least. :P

Anyone care to give this a shot?

It's unfortunate but phpMyAdmin has had a lot of bugs in the past with compatibility. When phpMyAdmin exports, it is phpMyAdmin creating the import SQL, not mySQL.

I think your lang/EN/comcode.ini file didn't upload correctly. If you re upload it, and delete lang_cached/EN/comcode.lcd you should be ok.

Yeah, I just reuploaded the entire /lang/ directory–this seemed to fix the problem. Thanks.

May I ask what host you are using now?

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

lol. It's a really long story.

I moved to indichosts.net, unfortunately they had some hidden limits applied to their accounts, so I had to move again.

They were limiting the amount of CPU each account is allowed to use. Most hosts set a limit on this, but Indic's limits were way below normal causing ocPortal to function improperly as I'd get Internal Server errors when visiting my site. Apparently ocPortal is a resource hogger. ;)

Anyhow, I'm with hostnine.com now. I've been with them for a few days now, and they're great…so far. :P

I don't mean to stereotype, but when you've become like me, moving from host to host due to problems with each provider, you start to wonder why it's even worth looking for another because for all I know, they could be just as bad.

ah I have switched many times as well.
First host was yahoo, then godaddy, (There was one between here but forgot what it was) then 1and1, then blue host, then back to godaddy, then to hostexcellence (they had the worst tech support I have ever seen), then I went to skyhighhosting or some thing like that and was riped off as they are now closed still out the money I payed them, then I went to downtownhost and now I am using downtownhost for my ocPortal skin site and hostgator.com for my large site the site in my siggy.  I have not had a problem with hostgator.

Oh and the only reason I am using hostgator and downtownhost is do to running out of space on downtown host and needing lots more space and hostgator had good reviews on a site I go to that talks about hosts.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

Is this why I can not even open your site today?

What do you mean? What's the URL you're using? I transferred the domain to the new host, so you should be able to access it.
