I have been setting up a test ocportal site and doing imports from an existing phpbb3 site. Overall, things have been going smoothly, but it appears that after the import, all members are defaulted to tracking all the forums. So when I begin assigning forum permissions and testing posts and replies with various users, everyone is getting spammed with notification messages. Is there a way to default to untrack so that I can test quietly?

Thanks!

Ah, I can see there is a bug here. When we implemented the importer we didn't realise phpBB uses the term tracking to mean tracking when users last read a forum, whilst ocPortal uses it to to mean who gets notifications. So the importer took the wrong data.

Please empty out the contents of the ocp5_tracking table.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

My correction, ocp5_f_forum_tracking and ocp5_f_topic_tracking.
