I believe the quick installer now does the permission setting correctly. To fix it on your install Leon, make the actual download_tree_made.htm have 666 permissions.

ocProducts is very pleased to announce that we have completed our version 2.5 documentation, and hence 2.5 final has now been released.

Version 2.5 represents a significant step forward for ocPortal:
  • it is now self contained, relying on no external forum
  • features have been added based on a year of feedback: we have listened very carefully, and 2.5 is the result
  • quality standards have been hugely improved in all areas
  • ocPortal now comes with enough documentation to fill a thick book. We have very carefully studied our users' experiences over the last year, and come up with a new format that does not just describe ocPortal, but the whole process of creating a web-site using ocPortal. You will find over 80 tutorials covering issues such as:
    • installing ocPortal
    • using and understanding classes of features
    • how to approach particular site design issues
    • understanding the social responsibilities of a web-master
    • learning XHTML and PHP (for advanced users)
  • all internal code is documented, so as to make the ocPortal framework easier to program for

Now that version 2.5 is complete we will be updating our web-site. Some of the 2.5 documentation refers to aspects of our web-site that are not yet reflected in reality, but this will not be the case for long.

New installs

As normal, ocPortal 2.5 is available from our download page.

Upgrading from 2.5 RC1

This upgrade should be easy, as relatively little has changed since RC1:
  • Upload the files from the attached upgrade zip so as to merge them into your current web-site files
  • Run http://mybaseurl/force_upgrade.php

Upgrading from 2.1

As this is a major ocPortal release, virtually every file has been modified, therefore release of an upgrade pack as we have done previously is not viable. In order to upgrade an existing ocPortal 2.1:
  • Back up all files and your database. You will need to actively use this backup to restore files that you previously edited (such as custom pages).
  • Close your website from your Admin Centre
  • Delete the 'admincentre', 'lang', 'lang_custom', 'pages', 'sources', 'sources_custom', 'themes' directories. Note that themes will need to be rebuilt; this is because many template files have changed, as well as the CSS structure. Themes won't need to be completely re-done, they will just need to be put back template file by file and CSS class by CSS class.
  • Also delete any other files you have 'overriden' in '_custom' directories, such as in 'pages/modules_custom'
  • Upload all files from the manual installation package except 'info.php' and 'install.php', on top of the existing files in your website
  • Run http://mybaseurl/force_upgrade.php
  • Perform any chmodding of the directories you deleted, as stipulated by the ocPortal 2.5 install guide.
    • Alternatively, you may run the 'fixperms.sh' file if you have shell access on a Linux server and know how to do this
  • Edit zone permissions for the 'membersonly' zone to give appropriate access. You need to make a choice at some point of whether or not to give guests access to this zone, but ordinary members definitely should have access.
  • Reopen your website from your Admin Centre

Your site should then be functioning once more. :)

Issue type: Anomaly/Bug
Software type: Browser
Software/vendor: Microsoft

Issue…

Support for reliable embedding without relying on Active-X or conditional comments. IE has bugs in the proper object tag nesting scheme.

Non-joined user

I have a small dilemma. We should have a 'Management' page on our new web-site, but I can't just stick everyone on it with the obvious position names, because that would make our company look small (a business rule: "Always make yourselves look bigger than you are").
Therefore if anyone wants to come up with a management title that is reasonably reflective to what they do, I will consider putting them up there. Otherwise it is just me.
I can't say these 'management positions' would stick, because we could be needing full time people in them at some point.

This is a template. Fill in all details you think are appropriate.

ocPortal Version: 2.5.1
PHP Version: 4.3.10
Installer: Manual, Upgrade

Description of problem:
I believe there is a problem with the time feature of ocPortal. I set my site time to match my windows time (eastern) but ocPortal displays the wrong time (Hawaii? Its 0522 pm, it says its 1222 pm.. so gmt -10?)

After setting the time to eastern, I hit 'reload' on the ocForum and it says my last visit was at 12:22 and not 5:22 (pm, for both)

Example URL: /forum/
Associated error message: N/A

Hi. I don't necessarily check peoples modifications, so you can post it immediately.

hi chris, i pm u here cause when u come here, problably u have a little  free time (avoiding disturbing u in msn) :) ….

well i just want to ask u if i post it for others or u have to see it first …
cause this mod. needs to add one field to ocp_links table (pic. name).

i think its functional, the only "bug" is when im adding links if i refresh the page it duplicate the last link … (the solution is simple dont refresh …lol) ; i think this happens in image gallery 2….. not sure..

thx and see ya

One more thing to clear up… "single word blocks" aren't blocks at all… they're "modules". Blocks get linked to Comcode pages, whilst modules are standalone pages in their own right.
