I've been curious about this for sometime and have just never asked.  I apologize if it's been answered, but I don't find it any where.

Does the curretly available download have all the fixes contained in the Tracker already?  Say I download and install 9.0.7.  In the Admin Zone Status page it shows,

Code

This is version 9.0.7.
Any critical bug fixes for this version are organised on the ocPortal website. You are running the latest
version.

Do I need to download and apply those fixes even though it is a fresh install?

We don't publish a new version each time there is a bug fix: 9.0.7 is 9.0.7 is 9.0.7.

Do I need to download and apply those fixes even though it is a fresh install?

You shouldn't install any hot fix unless you are affected by a specific bug, as it could cause potential stability issues (different combinations of hot fixes are not tested, and hot fixes could themselves contain bugs). In each release we regrettably tend to have one or two issues that more than a minority will notice (a small percentage of our fixes will have unforeseen other consequences), but the majority of new bug fixes tend to be for issues that someone only just noticed.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
