Handy little bit of code to use when copying large pages from word into ocPortal

Greetings,

Hopefully Chris doesn't mind me sharing this, but this is just way to helpful not to share… at lease IMO.

You see, I am completing my CEDI (Encyclopedia Nor'Ova) by copying pages I wrote in Libre Office or from my book, and pasting them into the handy little WYSIWYG editor screen. These pages are chock full of formatting, such as colors, tables, bullets, and the like.

Well at first I was getting the horrible exceeding xecutoie warning, simply because this was a lot of formatting for ocPortal to convert into comcode. This was really upsetting because not only do I have an easier time creating my large pages of information in Libre Office Writer, but I also have 410 pages of infoI wrote taht I am pulling from, and it would be a night mare to have to rewrite that all over in ocPortal (especially since I am providing only parts of it for use in the game, hoping that those who want the whole book would want to purchase it to help payu for webhosting costs; I provide the parts that are absolutely needed for the forum-based RP simply because I believe that lack of money and hard times shouldn't exclude you from beingable to do what you enjoy. Heck my book would be free I I could afford for it to be free lol).

Anyways, since I have it set that ocPortal also gets the emails about site errors, Chris Graham came down from the programming heavens to my rescue, and gifted me with the knowledge of The Chris Graham Cheat Code, which through some serious black magic (or divine intervention) tells ocPortal to not worry about all the formatting that is in those pasted from word pages, to just process it and all will be fine. And let me tell you it works, and it preserves the formatting and all just fine! So now I shall share it with all of you!

Code

Yeah, I know, Chris probably didn't invent that code, but then again maybe he did. All I know is if he hadn't given me that secret knowledge, I would have soon had to be taken by the nice gentlemen in white coats.

So enjoy, and hope it is helpful to all of you.

And now the rest of us can be taken away by those nice gentlemen in the white coats, instead!

See the 'secret' code; understand the 'secret' code; but the biggest 'secret' appears to be — "where to insert it"

Come on, GIVE!

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

LOL, sorry about that ;P I was racing against time trying to get it in before the demons of cableONE decide it is time for my daily 3+ hours of no internet.

Anyways, you simply put it in after all the text you paste into the editor…. in other words, at the bottom of the page you are creating.

Put it in each time at the bottom of all the huge stuff you are pasting in from Word and it should help to resolve nasty little exceeding execution time warnings.

*wonders why that word got so butchered before.. then remembers it was when his keyboard battery was dying…. yes… that's gotta be the reason*

Thank you for sharing, mythus!
This will prove to be quite handy.

I also found this one at the bottom of a Comcode page to exclude it from the ravages of wysiwyg;):

Code

{$,page hint: no_wysiwyg}
Cheers!
