Moving forward with Composr

In a page Critical error I found this, which was not described in ocp tutorials on this website:

Code

[internal_table="my table" place="middle"]Testing tables[/internal_table]

What does it mean "place="middle"", if it is of 100% width?
How could I make it of custom width?
How could I make the contents of it centered

my table

Testing tables
or any thing you want

Hmm thats not working like I wanted.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

1. The "place=middle"" applies to the header text.
2. Hadn't given the 'size' any thought until now so I don't have any answer to that one, but I'm sure it is do-able.
3. Prefix the text with 'center', either with Comcode's square brackets or HTML by declaing it as such before you put in the tag.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Yes.

There is a 'warning' somewhere about using "semihtml" which is classed as 'dangerous', but I am rather fond of that tag because I can 'mix-n-match' Comcode & HTML as I am typing. If I forget one 'convention' I can often remember the other, so a mixture of 'coding' comes out OK at the end.

Undisciplined, I know, but that's the way I do it. So, every time I start to input something, I start off with the "semihtml" tag and just keep going to the end and finish it off with "/semihtml".

The validator then tells me how badly I've done!!

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

I honestly do the same thing.

LOL Amy.

I wonder if the software authors are going to be 'horrorfied' to learn how they've contributed to our 'lazy' approach?

'semihtml' is only dangerous in the sense that it needs the "allow dangerous Comcode" security permission for members to use it. This is because it could be used to hack a site.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
