Well-settled

Is there a button or something?

My facebook addon is now working correctly for news and blog posts syndication to facebook. Is there a button or something to get syndication to facebook of an entry to a catalog?  I can't seem to get catalog entries to post to Facebook. My syndication to facebook is on and I re-started syndication a couple times no change.

Thanks in advance for any direction

Don't think that catalogue entries are syndicated.  Hadn't seen where they are anyway.  So far I've seen syndication options on calendar and news entries.  Maybe CEDI post now that I think about it.

I just went an took a look around my own site.  You can syndicate news, blog, and calendar entries.  The CEDI or Wiki allows for sending notifications but not syndicating.  Hoever, I with the FB addon install you should be able to "Share" a catalogue entry.  I know it's an extra step, but that's all I can see anyway of posting it to FB.

Thanks chipster….  I think you are right It would be nice though.  Maybe some has a work around I want to run a classified ads catalog and post syndication to facebook.

Now I have to find why I am getting double posts to my wall and to profile.  Did you have this issue?

I can see where you'd like to be able to do that in a classified catalogue.  The Facebook addon is a 3rd party addon, so maybe PT the member that developed it, and request the feature.  Who knows, it might be a simple thing to implement.  The worse that could happen is he or she says no.  Depending on how much it means to you, when you contact them, offer to pay a reasonable rate to have them do it.  Surely it couldn't cost that much to make that kind of change.  In the meantime, when you want to post a catalogue entry to Facebook try this.  I did it with a lyrics catalogue from my own site and it worked.  Add your Classified ad, And then choose to view it.  (your configuration will determine what your next screen will be. When I do this, I'm delivered to a "DO Next" type screen, where one of the options is to "View This.)  When you view the entry, at the bottom is a Facebook Like button.  Click on it then you can enter some extra text or not. and it will post to your wall and your public newsfeed.

Yes I did.  To fix it go to your profile on your site, click on activities and uncheck "Syndicate to Facebook."  What is happening is, your site is configured, through setting up the Facebook Addon, to syndicate the Administrator entries as being posted by your web site.  Then you have Syndication turned on in your User/Member Activities profile, which tells the site to also syndicate your post to your Facebook Wall.  Since the site is configured to post to your Facebook Wall, and your Personal profile is set to post to your Facebook Wall it ends up being a double entry.  Makes sense when you think about it.

Chipster thanks for taking the time to explain this functionality.  All of the above works as expected.

Thanks again for your extra effort….
