I have a buddy that is a 'super-moderator', I modified that group so he could not get into admin.   But now he doesn't get the 'add news' link in the side news box.   And on the galleries page he doesn't get the 'control functions' box so he can not add an image to his own gallery.

i logged in as a test user as well and they are a 'regular' and it is there.

I looked in block_site_news.tpl and found this is where it puts that line there:

Code

{+START,BOX,{TITLE},,{$?,{$GET,in_panel},panel,classic},,,{$?,{$IS_NON_EMPTY,{ARCHIVE_URL}},<a rel="archives" href="{ARCHIVE_URL*}">{!VIEW_ARCHIVE}</a>|}{$?,{$IS_NON_EMPTY,{SUBMIT_URL}},<a rel="add" href="{SUBMIT_URL*}">Add to Blog</a>|}}

The {submit_url} must be what it is doing it.  Why would it be empty for a super moderator?

even edited the template mentioned in the first one to get rid of the if statement… doesn't matter, these things do not show for this user.

Very strange.

This is crazy.  I couldn't figure out why it did not put up the 'add news' in the side block for that user.  But I created a new account and it displayed there, so I merged the old to the new, now that shows.

But the 'control functions' block on the galleries page still does not show up for him.   Found another user (using the log on as other users thing) that it doesn't show up for.

Very odd.

Well, that was a confusing mess.   Note to yourselfs:   If you 'hide' the content management zone from users, it takes away the ability to see things like the 'control functions' menu.  Thus no option to add to a gallery.  Or add a blog.

Strange that 'regular' was checked to be able to view it, but all other user groups were not.
