Hi folks,
I made a full backup of my entire site using the tool inside of cpanel.  I moved to my new host and they extracted and set up my new account.  Everything seems to be great and wonderful except it seems that when I add an entry to the database, such as creating new galleries, adding to a catalogue etc, the changes don't show up right away.  If I log off the site and return the changes are there.  I also upgraded to 9.0.8 and it said I had to non-bundled addons that needed updated, the activities feed and the facebook addon,  when I updated them they disappeared completely from my addon list.

Anyone have an idea what could be causing this?  I've thought maybe I needed to go in to cpanel and repair the database, but didn't want to do anything till I got some feedback from here.

Sounds like they have a cache on there (something called a reverse proxy cache, e.g. varnish or nginx). I'd ask them to disable it.

As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

Thanks Chris.  I'll check in to that.  I just moved to Arvixe, one of your recommended host, and just assumed they'd be on top of everything necessary to run ocp smoothly.  During the sign up they asked if I'd be running ocPortal and when the account was first setup auto installed a fresh copy.  however, what you're saying makes perfect sense.  If I hit refresh the changes appear so it stands to reason it is a cache issue

Hi Chris, you were absolutely correct.  They run Varnish on every one of their shared hosting accounts.  However, they were more than happy to disable it for me.  The plan I'm using allows for unlimited domains on the same account so I had to send a list of domains running ocPortal since it is a per domain and not per user setting.

Hello Chipster,

I'm the CEO/Founder of Arvixe and I would like to see if I can get to the bottom of this. The settings we have for Varnish should not have caused this issue. Would you please email me  your ticket ID @ arvand .at. arvixe.com so that I can look into it? Thank you very much for your help.

Hi arvand,
Thanks for replying.  However I'm afraid I didn't keep the support tickets.  I've not registered in your support systm yet because the registration page has captcha but doesn't have an option for audio.  I'm totally blind and just haven't thought of registering when there's a sighted person around to read the captcha image to me.  I'm going to email you my account details and you can probably look it up that way.  However, I do know that once Varnish was disabled on my account I quit having those issues.
