News - All News

I am sure its something I don't understand.
Anyone know how to make a news page and menu links to display the above contend, just the new part not the whole page?

Thanks

Hey Violative! Here's something to try: create a comcode page with the following in it:

Code

[block param="http://store.steampowered.com/feeds/news.xml" max_entries="10" title="Steam News"]main_rss[/block]
Then add a menu link wherever you'd like linking to the comcode page, good to go.

Hi,

I've just tried this out, and ocPortal was struggling with the feed. I have attached a fix, please upload it then use Soccerdad's code:

  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thanks.
Chris the news link works on the site now
Steam RSS News Feed

I understand that this is not a OCP issue or question it is more of a xml programing one, I like to ask this here.
I have notice steam uses ?xml=1 in alot of pages sample of one http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197970074012?xml=1 and another one News - All News how are some people getting the information if those two links are not really .xml feeds or are they?

XML is a way of structuring data, not a format itself. RSS and Atom are feed file formats that use XML. This XML is not RSS or Atom, it's something else.

That's something a programmer usually has to do, although Yahoo Pipes might make it more achievable.
