this day I run into some problems here, the shoutbox is gone and can't get it back. The code is into the rightplace.?
There are also two chatboxes active, so thats not the problem I think?

A another problem I see is that I can not more then 5 galleries lets seen online. Its this a limit on the free version?
But I think the gallerie template must have some layouting, its to unstructed now, sorry I have to say this.
I' am not a coder, so its not easy for me to do this myself. :(  If its look like the Cedi pages then we have more structure, and where the thumbnail come more standard layout with borders rond every thumbnail.

When possible look at the structure of coppermine… maby this will help.

Update:
found more strange things: If  I use the main_note block I got a very big Green field above it. Also the footer is not going down when page is longer. You can see it on the frontgpage. www.photocase.nl

problems

oke Guys,

The shoutbox problem is done, don't how, but he is back.
The other problem is staying and this is, that when you have more then 1 news item the footer will not going down. Its stays under the last sitebox on the leftpanel.

The block admin_note I had to remove, in this place I have type text directley into the page self.
The only thing what dissorp me is that the picures in the thumbnail page are not ordered nicelye. Have searched for a solution but not found the template who do this… if someone can point me to the right place?

But I love this CMS…..

BY the way: I use Opera 9.22 as my standard browser. and sometimes explorer 7 under windows Vista basic.

I don't know why this is happening, and I noticed your footer problem right when I clicked your link. It could have been your server having to many connections at once, and a or a few connections didn't make the template you made correctly at the time. I suggest to unload all your cache from your browser and the site cache (use the ocPortal Cleaning tool) and use the template wizard. This could be also a php problem, installion issue, or could be a bug. :$

The footer is placed via JavaScript (there was no cross-browser way to do it with CSS without encountering incompatibilities). Do you have JavaScript disabled?

It could possible be done with tables or the why it is done on ipb.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

I honestly do think it might work better with a simple table.
I actually did on a few themes I made put it in a table to make ti cross browser compatible and to fix this issue.

I have found the solution for the footer problem. In the startpage must be after a serie blocks the following code :

Code

<br class="float_passer" />

Now the footer is going down if the page gets longer.

yes those are very handy I usually do recommend those and I am sorry I did not. My mind is just on other things so not being as helpful as I should.
I am glad you got it though.
I think all this PHP school stuff has my head in well that and I am doing a lot of work on my site.

A another problem I see is that I can not more then 5 galleries lets seen online.

This is a bug that came up in the latest patch release; I believe there is a bug fix on the forums somewhere. I hope to be able to make a new patch release next weekend.

(tables)

The default ocPortal template set uses 'semantically-correct markup', so a table would not be appropriate; especially one that goes around the whole website. It basically would make the whole site 'dirty' from a 'semantic' point of view, as it would imply the whole website was a 'tabular data set'. 'semantics' is a part of web development of increasing importance, as it makes a difference for blind people, search engines, PDAs, etc. We hope to have an alternative solution in version 4, but this is a very tricky issue to handle properly.

Harry - thanks for your feedback on the gallery appearance. The gallery templates/css are done to be 'inconspicous' as they might be used on sites that don't want to look too gallery-orientated, but we will review this, as I'm sure we can make improvements.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
