5.1 beta

Greetings,

I have been frustratingly trying to complete this one catalog, but without prevail because the catalog decides that I don't really want all those fields after all….

Seemingly unable to find a way to do what I really wanted to do (turn my character sheet into a database form using the catalog system), I decided to go for the next best thing, use the catalog system to make the detailed and complete character sheet that I wanted/need for my upcoming Saga of Ablution forum based RPG.

Now I have never tried to make such a large form with the catalog before. I have made character profile forms with it, but they have all been short and sweet. However I am needing to make a mmore complete profile form because of all the experimental mechanics I am going to put into play in my LofN: Saga of Ablution era rp. This is a massive form no doubt, with 32 fields needed to be put in.

However the catalog system, a system that I've admired and loved from the begining, has sought to betray me and crush my dreams. Instead of allowing me to make this form, and accept it, it lets me make it and think it accepted it, only to eat anything after form field 20.

I have went back in and tried to re add them, with it pretending to accept the changes, only to be faced with not seeing my changes in place, and them not existing at all.

Plus, once I make my 21st field, I can no longer edit the catalog from just going to the catalog name and edit, or edit this once I saved it. No, it gives me a white screen with the zone menu bordinging and stuff. Instead I have to go into Catalgous, Edit, and choose the catalog from the list. Maybe it's a related issue?

So yeah, sorry if I sound aggrivated, I am a bit frustrated. Not at you guys, or whatever, but over the unwillingness of Catalogue to do what I tell it to do, or lying to me that it did when intruth it did not!

Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Could you you check your PHP info to see if there is any particularly relevant looking limit on post_max_size or suhosin.max_post_vars (or similar looking suhosin settings).

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

Greetings,

I see nothing referencing post_max_size or anything at all with suhosin in the front….

For resource limits I do have max_execution_time, max_input_time, and memory_limit… the memory limit being 32 M.

Hi,

(This is Chris, just not logged in on this machine)

Do you want to open a bug report support ticket with FTP details to your server, so we can investigate? I suspect some kind of limit being hit but it could be in many places and I'm very curious.

Greetings,

As requested, I have made a support ticket with my FTP details. It is a free ticket, titled the same as this thread.

Thanks again for all your help!
