Can't get past wizard step 9 and 10

Hi, Thanks for a promising cms!!

I'm testing ocportal_manualextraction_installer-7.0.1.zip on my laptop.
Tried the install in an xammp environment and also in the Debian system's native packages (apache2/mysql/php)

For the nth time I've tried to get past step 10 of the setup wizard.
I always set ownership to root and file perms as per fixperms.sh
The error comes at the end after the FTP entries (I decline FTP).

The Debian packages are:
MySQL Server 5.1.49-3
PHP 5.3.3-7
Apache2 2.2.16-6

The error refers to many files that can't be written or written to, whichever. Aren't these set by fixperms.sh?

Cheers,

Become a fan of ocPortal on Facebook or add me as a friend. Add me on on Twitter.
Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thanks, Chris.
Following the thread: View topic: [Solved!] Install error - ocPortal means chmodding everything to 0777. No problem on my laptop. But when I'm finished developing the a site and copy files over to our webserver, will running fixperms.sh sort things out there? Obviously I won't need to run the wizard again.

(Apologies for these noobie questions.)
Cheers,

Great, Brian. Appreciate the heads-up. Just didn't want to spend a lot of time developing only to have it go pear-shaped because I was too lazy to ask questions. You can tell I work at a school, eh?  :)

Cheers,
