Code

Critical error - bailing out

This is an error that has been elevated to critical error status because it occurred during the primary error mechanism reporting system itself (possibly due to it occuring within the standard output framework). It may be masking a secondary error that occurred before this, but was never output - if so, it is likely strongly related to this one, thus fixing this will fix the other.
PHP NOTICE [8] date_default_timezone_set() [<a href='http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.date-default-timezone-set.php'>function.date-default-timezone-set.php</a>]: Timezone ID '0' is invalid in sources/temporal.php on line 396 (version: 9.0.7, PHP version: 5.2.17, URL: /site/index.php?page=start&keep_forum_root=52&refreshed_once=1&keep_refreshed_once=1)

Depending on the error, and only if the website installation finished, you may need to edit the installation options (the info.php file).

Thats the bail out message the user is getting, she passes the landing page, and gets to the main site zone page, and then this pops up for her.

I am wandering if any other users are getting this as only a handful have visited since last night.
Seems to be working ok for me.
Page load times are sometimes a little slow though

Any ideas what this could be?
Whats the timezone error it is referring

The user is using a Mac on Snow Leopard if that helps?

Fan in action

From what I can see, the script is supposed to grab your timezone from the server and it is getting zero instead.

I wonder if it is mac related, but probably just not getting the info passed for some reason.

Has she tried using a different browser?

Thanks for the replies, and the fix Chris.
I thought it had something to do with facebook as she did manage to get in after removing the facebook app from your login, and also a password reset.

Have now applied the fix as well

Hi,

Are you sure it really is the same error, containing "Timezone ID '0' is invalid"?

If not, please let us know the exact error message and we'll look into it.

This is an old topic, and the bugfix wouldn't be compatible or necessary on newer releases.

I've just reviewed this, and the fix is definitely still there in the latest version.

I've reviewed the code for all uses of 'date_default_timezone_set' with dynamic timezones. This only happens for the main case, which was fixed to ignore broken timezone values, or for the calendar (could only happen if bad external data somehow got into the calendar database).

So, please reach back to us with details of what version you're on, and the exact error message, and when it happens. My guess is it's actually an unrelated issue, and it that is a different bug we'd like to help fix that, whatever it is.
