Sorry for all the posts- I'm new to OCPortal and am just trying to figure things out. :)  I'm pleased so far except for one thing- the pages on my site load excruciatingly slow.  It's not content heavy at all and I've checked with my hosting provider to have them test things out.  I was told that the scripts the software is written in are causing the problems.  Is there anything I can do to make the site load any faster?  The pages often time out, or after a while I get a download box that pops up saying "You have chosen to open XXX.php" and asks me where I want to save it.  Any ideas?  I've done a search of the forums but haven't been able to find an answer.

Thanks,
Kelli

I suspect this is because of the slow database/web server your site uses. Have you got caching turned on? (It's in the "Configuration" section of the adminzone.)

Hi Philip,:)

Yes, I have all the caching options ticked (I found a post that recommened that when I first searched your forum).    My hosting company is telling me the server is not the problem.  That may be the case, but I won't be able to get any further with them before I make sure it's nothing on this end.  Is there anything else I might try?  And what about the pop-ups asking me if I want to download the .php page? Is that a related or separate issue?

Thanks,
Kelli

You say it's happening to a lot of pages, and not just when you do specific things? The download popups are a symptom of the problem (the page isn't transferred properly, so the browser doesn't know how to handle it properly and just gives you the option to download it).

Thanks for the reply, Philip.  In the admin area, it happens randomly; in the forum, there are a couple of specific spots I hit that give the same error message (I submitted a ticket about it this morning).

As far as the speed goes though, I have been in contact with the hosting provider and it has improved.  I just hope it stays that way! O_o

May I ask who your hosting provider is?

 Hello all,

I already wrote once that in my server it is also extremely slow. I can even open certain pages (for instance longer laqnguage files for editing)

If you say it is a server side, then what are crucial server settings to boost the speed.
