 I love the side calendar block but there is one thing missing.

Underneath the side calendar on many portals is a list of upcoming events. This would be a great enhancement for ocPortal. An extra benefit would be to have a mouseover give some extra details like the time of the event, and clicking on it would open that event as if it where clicked on in the daily view. It would look something like this:

Hi,

This can kind of happen already by placing a second instance of the block beneath the first, configured as follows…

Code

[block="listing" days="2"]side_calendar[/block]

  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Wow Chris,

You always have the answer, I think we are going to have to change you name to the Answer Man ;-)

I guess my next question is, is there a complete list of all blocks, and all variations of each block?

Yes. The easiest thing is to use the 'Add block' button in the Zone Editor or when editing Comcode pages.

Chris,

I spoke to soon. If I go to the Setup - Site Option the site date and time is correct. If I check the Calendar events the date and time are correct. If I look at the list it is really cool that the time that is displayed is 2 hours behind which is correct for my local time but for events that are on the Calendar for today 23 Feb is showing as 22 Feb and for events that are on the Calendar for tomorrow 24 Feb are showing on the list as 23 Feb. I am sure that somewhere I will need to put something like current_date+1 but I have no idea where to look.

Hi,

This appears to be a bug with the timezone handling. Please try the following fix. Change line 179 of sources/blocks/side_calendar.php from:

Code

         $day_start=mktime(0,0,0,intval($bits[1]),intval($bits[2]),intval($bits[0]));
to:

Code

         $day_start=mktime(12,0,0,intval($bits[1]),intval($bits[2]),intval($bits[0]));
