I have just started to investigate the possibility of moving a site I am part of looking after over to ocPortal. We currently use RavenNuke with some standalone add ons of a shop and gallery 2. One of the things that has always derailed the movement to a new system is the fact that the committee behind the site that I support insist that the forums pages have a side bar so that things can be advertised etc - a lot of users just go to the forum and nothing else. So is it possible to add the existing side bar (block) to the standard ocPortal Forum ? I have ocPortal installed on my NAS box for testing, it was so easy to install as I already have a DB and web server, just copied up and browsed to the install !!! I have also been playing with the gallery as I would like to move off gallery 2 if possible - we only use it to display event pics and brochures, so it is read only to everyone but admins. With ocPortal gallery I tried a zip upload and got too large errors and copying to upload/galleries which caused timeouts - so not a good start with galleries !! Would also like to display the images in larger formats, like gallery 2 lets you by clicking on them - is this possible ? Sorry for all the new be questions - I did search the forum but could not find answers ! Cheers, Ade |

Could you post those as separate topics please. Specifically '2' needs a lot more detail in the explanation (what errors, how large the files, how long the timeout, etc). If I answered something that you think should be in the documentation, please take the initiative and add it to the community documentation. We really need people to help out here and build a well-organised large support resource. |

Thanks for the reply. I managed to turn the side panels on in the forum thanks to you hint. I will have another go at gallery imports next week and if I still run into issues will create a separate post. I have now been through most of the excellent tutorials and starting to understand how things hang together. The real big one is the bring the Raven Nuke content into ocPortal - I will create a seperate thread for that !! Cheers, Ade |
