Should guests be allowed to edit own low impact content?

I was looking at the global permissions and noticed guest have the following by default:

Submit low-impact (low visibility) content (this is ok I would imagine)
Edit own low-impact (low visibility) content (this one I am concerned about?)
Bypass validator for low-impact content (This one I am also conerned about)

There is also bumit med and high but no bypasses or edits for those so I am not worried there.

Should guests be allowed those 2 concerned entries by default?

It means they can post on the forum without having to be validated. The edit one is irrelevant, as ocPortal can't identify something as owned by a guest.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Ok thanks so turning off the bypass validation would not cause a problem then. I thought maybe it was one to allow a sort of contact us if things aren't working but I have fine tuned the forum permissions to allow them to post unvalidated. This will override the global setting correct?
