Version 8 brought the ability to provide a title for a gallery entry; however, the URL remains the same after the title is entered. Shouldn't a new URL be generated based on the entry title for better SEO?

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

I applied the hot fix which fixed the titles, hover it still leaves the URLs with the old form (/galleries/image/-function_16.htm). Shouldn't the  URLs be rewritten to use the title when URL monikers and new short-style URLs is enabled?

would require an edit of content to trigger it to notice any change

That fixed it right up. Thanks, Chris.

The URLs could really benefit from about 10 extra characters. I currently have many like "/julian-ritter-s_12.htm" where a few more characters would distinguish them. Something to consider in the future.
