When entering the Admin Zone

Whenever I click on the 'Admin Zone' link, for some reason it makes me log in twice. Is this normal (maybe a security feature)? I don't remember it ever doing this before I moved servers - regardless of whatever link was clicked on, it only required one login, but now it requires two logins which is a little weird.

Does www. leave/enter the URL after the first login? If so, it could be that cookies are getting stored on one of these domains, and the process of moving through ocPortal causes the correct URL to come into place.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

No, that is always present. It's hard to explain, but I bookmarked my website, and now everytime I click the bookmark it appears as if I'm still logged into my account. So after I click the bookmark, then click the 'Admin Zone' link, it asks for a second login.

Here is where it gets weird: If I click the bookmark, logout of my account, then log back into my account and click the 'Admin Zone' link, it doesn't require a second login. It acts almost as if the ocPortal 'Remember Me' feature isn't working correctly.

I think I might have misunderstood your original post. A cookie login is not sufficient to access the Admin Zone (yes, for security reasons), so if you haven't logged in since opening up your website, it will ask you to log in.

it's that way on IPB so I thought it was for that reason.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.
