Just found a minor bug. If I do a search and get multiple hits and then click on them they act differently. If I click on a download, or picture it takes me there. If I click on a video it opens a new window and takes me there.

Also is there a way to have the small side search box also search the forums. I know there is a forum search in the forums I just think it would be nice if the one search box did a full global search of the entire site. Thanks!

Video opening in new window will be fixed in next release.

As for the search block - side_search was dropped a while ago now but I'm guessing you're using main_search there. There's a 'limit_to' parameter to the block which takes a value like 'ocf_posts,images,videos', determining what is covered.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

Thanks Chris, I'm not using side_search, I am using main_search as a side box. I will play with the limit_to parameter to create a Global Search box. Will search the support area for a complete list of all the values.

Thanks Chris, got it doing a Global Search now I think. One question, why not make the

Code

[block]main_search[/block]
do a full Global Search then use the limit_to to do limited searches. Instead I have to do a

Code

[block limit_to="calendar,catalogue_categories,catalogue_entries,cedi_pages,cedi_posts,comcode_pages,download_categories,downloads,filedump,galleries,images,iotds,news,ocf_clubs,ocf_members,ocf_own_pt,ocf_posts,ocf_within_topic,polls,quiz,videos"]main_search[/block]
to do a Global Search. Seems kind of strange to have to use a limit_to command to do an "unlimited" search. Not complaining as I really appreciate the system and help just seemed a little strange. Thanks again!
