None of the newsletters I schedule are being mailed out.  Yes, cron is setup and working.  All the task on my admin status page update correctly, scheduled Calendar events are firing correctly, I even have a "New Content" newsletter scheduled to email to my self once a week and I receive it just fine.  If I set up a newsletter to go out with out being scheduled it too goes out.  However, if I go to "send out issue" from an article or from the "Admin /  tools / newsletter / send out issue" page and use the defered schedule option nothing happens at all no matter what newsletter I assign it to, or user group.  It's showing up in my list of events when I go to "Content Management / Calendar / Edit Event" as being scheduled, but again nothing is happening.

Sorry about that. I have debugged and resolved the problem. It should work on your site now, for future scheduled newsletters.

I will also post a hotfix for the benefit of other users.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Hmmm, it mailed out one test mailing and has gone back to not mailing them out on schedule.  When I look at the event in "Calendar / Edit Evnt" the time is totally different then what was scheduled. For example: I set up a mailing this morning at 5am to be mailed at 5:20am and never received it.  When I looked at the event in the calendar it was scheduled for 12:20am.  Going by that it would have to have been mailed before it was even created, so I can see where I would not have received it.  Not a big deal I guess if I set up a mailing for the next day or so.

Sorry about that. The time would have been in GMT but it did not tell you this. I have now amended the code to treat it in whatever timezone you're running. I updated the code on your hosting.

Thanks Chris.  You know after I posted my last post, I gave it some thought and wondered if that might be what was going on.  It did fit the time offset that we are from GMT.

Hi Chris,
I have just scheduled a Newsletter for 6pm today and it got me thinking what time zone it would use.

Also is this fix already applied to our site?

Our server is in the states, so will it try and send at 6pm CDT or GMT?

Cheers
Ade

It will use whatever time zone you have set in adminzone/Setup/ConfigurationSite options/General, so if your timezone is set to your local time zone, and your copy of ocPortal is up-to-date then you're golden.
