titles only

Hi folks.

I'm setting up the news page and found out how to rss feed with an appropriate link, e.g.:

.

1. This shows the summary of the articles in a list. Great, but I'd like only the title to show, instead of a summary. Is this possible somehow by changing the rss box settings. I've gone to the news source and I only see one kind of link. I've also played around with Bloglines, a web based feed. Bloglines can feed the titles only, but I don't think I can feed that list from Bloglines into my own rss box.

Is that possible somehow?

2. Also, I would like three different coloured news feed boxes. My original one is green. I'd like to create a red and then a blue one. This would be changed by css right?

Thanks fellas.

Al

opml?

I've just seen that bloglines let me export their feed in a opml format. Is this any use for me to import into one of the rss boxes in ocportal?

OPML is a list of feeds, not a feed itself.

To change how RSS is displayed you'd need to change the templates. You can use CSS to change colours differently for different blocks by putting something around them with a CSS class and then using that in selectors to specify differences.

None of this is close to being point&click I'm afraid, you need to understand the template system well, XHTML, CSS, and how blocks work in ocPortal.

I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

Thanks Chris.

I'll give it a shot by googling some script.

You couldn't let me know which template corresponds to the rss feed layout? There are about half a dozen belonging to the rss feed. Is it the rss_header template?

I like the design of the boxes. I just want to add a template which alters the way content is displayed.

Cheers.

Hi,

We'd have to step through this as commercial support. If you'd like that please open a support ticket from our main website.
