My catalog tree is rether complicated, so while I have created the folders and subfolders, I have restricted access to many of them to myself and my moderators where I plan to open them up as I am able to start filling them.

When I use SU to log in as a basic member though, these supposedly "restricted" directories are still visible and clicking them results in an error (stack trace). Is it normal for these to remain visible? How can I make them invisible to viewers who don't have access to them?

If a tutorial already exists, please send me in that direction, I haven't been able to find anything here on this subject yet.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
