Some help needed. At least a few new sets of eyes to see if there is something amiss that I am looking at, but can't actually SEE …

(following screencaps have the URL superimposed where it is relevant)

1. Site is still closed (but this shouldn't be relevant)

2. Calling the base URL gets the correct site and page if logged in previously and the login is still current (but note the URL).

3. If not logged in, the login page is offered. Going throught the login procedure the user is taken to the page shown above at the URL shown in the screencap.

4. However, if the 'Site' link is clicked …

… the user is taken to a login page again, even though the user is currently logged in (note the change in the URL).

5. Completing the login procedure on this screen brings the user back to the login page (the URL clearly shows a 'redirect') and so it is impossible to get out of the loop unless one physically removes the 'site/' bit from the URL.

This is a bit of a deal-breaker for me as far as deploying ocPortal is concerned. I've not come across this anomaly in previous versions, and am totally unsure what I may have done during set-up for it to occur.

Any advice or 'guestimates' will be welcome.

TIA

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Could your cookie settings be wrong? E.g. wrong domain or path? Or could a more specific cookie with the same name be taking precedence?

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thanks for the pointer, Chris.

I ran setup/configuration again and entered a shortened path value for the cookie_path. It had been left blank for auto-detection previously.

Now, logging in problems have gone away.

Success!
