Just when I thought life was becoming simple again …

This happens when I try to add a forum. It refuses to give a 'tree' (continues trying to load), and of course it won't accept anything on the grounds that 'you have not fully completed the form'

I notice that it is referencing my custom theme/templates_cached/EN/javascript_tree.js. Can I delete this file on the server and reasonably expect ocP to rebuild it? Or will deleting the file from the server REALLY screw things up?

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Assuming it's not a bug, it's probably that you have overridden the JAVASCRIPT template. Is that possible?

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

NOT A BUG!

You nailed it, but how the hell would an override find its way into my theme folder without me actually putting it there?

And I can assure you I don't fiddle with anything I don't know anything about - and that's about everything 'coded' in ocPortal!

P.S. Just remembered that I went through a period of snatching many of the 'fixes' you put up for other users, whether or not I was inflicted by the same problems, and this may have been one of them. Since it didn't affect me negatively at the time I have probably forgotten it was there. Must check the custom folders to see other overrides aren't also doing some sort of quiet damage without my knowledge.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Dunno. Maybe it was just an accident, I've uploaded things to the wrong folders myself using FTP sometimes.
