The following javascript error appears right after the contextual css editor opens.

51: event is not defined
…/default/templates_cached/EN/javascript_themeing.js

I suffered something similar a while ago, but not with the contextual css editor, nor with the specific 'js' file you are reporting. In that instance I deleted the javascript.js file from its cached location and allowed ocPortal to rebuild it.

Unfortunately, often the problem is repeated as the original that you found in templates_cached/EN/ is generated directly from ocPortal. I had to resort to 'editing' JAVASCRIPT.tpl and FTP'd it to a *themes/custom* folder to overcome the error.

Your obvious knowledge of JS should make it a cinch for you to track down this little gremlin …

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

I think this fixes it. Was a little surprising, I think it is demonstrating to me that Google Chrome supports the non-standard IE way of doing events, because I'd missed out a bit of code needed for standards browsers and it had still worked for me.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

No joy Chris, same error. Ran it in IE and have more detail for you:

Message: 'cssText' is null or not an object
Line: 51
Char: 483
Code: 0
…/themes/default/templates_cached/EN/javascript_themeing.js

I did my normal cache flushing routine as usual.

Yes, but at least it not a permanent magnet.

This bug has been demagnetised!
